How inconvenient is that truth?
"Stop completely twatting your planet, because we haven't got any where else to live"KT Tunstall. How did global warming become such a huge issue over the past few years?
The organization SOS (Save Our Selves) has brought popularity to the responsibility of our generation to shoulder the endeavor. Kevin Wall, founder of SOS, is working towards global awareness of advanced climate change and offering ways to take action against its affects. Wall is an Emmy award-winning producer of the Live 8 event that assembled one of the most massive contingents to attack the problem of poverty. Also at the helm is former Vice President Al Gore, author of An Inconvenient Truth, a book-to-movie that has brought to a sobering light the threat of global warming.
Steadily rising gas prices are finally forcing people to take a closer look at the environmentalist’s cause and reconsider certain harmful habits of energy consumption. After watching Al Gore's documentary An Inconvenient Truth, I couldn't help but google stuff to do; to help prevent any more global warming. If you haven't watched the documentary, I recommend you check it out :) Okay, so maybe the findings were slightly exaggerated and the statistics are debatable, but I think Al Gore did a fab job in presentating how real Global Warming is and what will happen if we don't act. I must say the disappearing glaciers, melting poles, ocean temperature patterns can be very scary and quite the wake up call.
How to be an Earthy Girl.
- Wearing dresses is okay.
- You might consider changing your dieting habits by becoming a vegetarian or a vegan.
- Have lots of hope. You may not be able to get others to do this, but if you do there will be one more earthy girl on this planet.
- Use essential oils to balance your energies. Juniper is a great for cleansing your energies and bringing you back to yourself.
- Candle meditation is also an earthy girl practice. Watching the flame flicker is a great way to get in touch with yourself and align your energies with the earth.
- Take up yoga or Pilates to help maintain a sense of inner calm, as well as to help you get in touch with the mind and body connection.
Warnings
- People might call you a hippie. Don't let it get to you. You know who you are and that's final. Do not compromise out of fear of what others think of you.
- Don't forget to have fun too. Just because you're earthy doesn't mean you can't kick up your heels once in a while.
- Being earthy doesn't mean you have to retain your real hair colour - especially if you're going prematurely grey! But be proud of the grey hairs if you wish - they are just as much you as any other feature.
- The opposite of an earthy girl is a pie-in-the-sky girl. So make sure you ground your dreams in reality so you can make your dreams come true - instead of just being a wannabe.

A whole lot of rubbish if you ask me. So Mich can't be an earthy girl afterall? The more realistic and doable options i think would be to carpool (although driving yourself is simply more convenient, cos spliting rm100 petrol cost is just too malufying?), spend less time with your tv, spend more time outside; get to know your neighbours, save electricity, take public transportation cos KL traffic is a killer.
Even that can be/is incredibly difficult. Why is it so hard to change one’s lifestyle even when it is obviously healthier for us to change?
